Our Locals

A few of our favourite drinking spots in London...

Mason and Taylor

51-55 Bethnal Green Road, Bethnal Green

Located at the top of Brick Lane and a convenient 5 minute cycle from our flat, Mason and Taylor only opened it’s doors towards the end of last year but has already become very popular. They have an extensive selection of bottled and draft beers that will be updated every couple of months. There are only 3 cask ales on at one time, but the bonus is that one is always Darkstar Hophead, and the other 2 are changed regularly. After having our New Years Eve meal here, we can also highly recommend the food; British Small Plates. Gourmet traditional British food served Tapas style, and very reasonably priced. Go check it out…

Euston Tap

190 Euston Road, outside Euston Station

Right outside of Euston station in a Grade II listed building the Euston tap may not be local to us, but is it certainly a local for us.  It Is one of those pubs you travel to get a good beer.  They also serve many different of Thornbridge beers, which is a big plus!  We have had many a good afternoon/ night in this pub and drank plenty of good beers.

The Camel

277 Globe Road, Bethnal Green

Any pub at the end of ‘Sugar Loaf Walk’ has to meet certain expectations. Luckily, The Camel will surpass any that you might have. Located just behind Bethnal Green tube station, The Camel is an intimate and tradional pub that gives you a warm and friendly welcome. They serve gourmet (but reasonably priced) East London pie and mash alongside London brewed Sambrooks and guest ales such as our childhood local, Harveys.

The Sun

441 Bethnal Green Rd, Bethnal Green

The Sun was a pub that we would just walk past  (like allot of the pubs on Bethnal Green road).  It was then taken over a few years ago and given a new lease of life.  It maybe dark inside, but this is a pub which shines brightly the things that matter. Constantly changing guest ales make this a firm favourite with us, so it’s always a nice surprise to walk in and see what’s on.  It’s also a watering hole on the walk from the flat to another local of ours, Mason & Taylor.
