Day 4: Perth to Melrose

Good progress in the morning but then had to take the ‘cycle path’ into Edinburgh which weaves in and out of posh people’s gardens and dodgy council estates.
We noticed a snapped spoke so we went to Edinburgh Cycles to get it fixed. While there, I borrowed some tools to tighten the front bottom (lol – Matt) bracket which turned out to be slightly more serious. The bearing holders in the bottom bracket had bent so we had to re-build it without them. The guys at Edinburgh Cycles were really helpful and didn’t charge for the repair of our wheel but more importantly they got us a new flag!
Edinburgh looked nice but we couldn’t hang around, it was on to Stewart Brewing. We found the small brewery on the outskirts and had a tour and chat with one of the brewers (sorry, I’ve forgotten you name). They had some great beers but our favourite was the 7% Doplebock but we’ll review in more detail later.
Strong headwind and slow progress all the way to Melrose. Last day in Scotland tomorrow…
Also… Paper cup ‘incident’, sponsored £10 from B&B owner, apology from B&B owner, shown to coffee shop by old man, tired legs, lovely hostel
