Camden Town Brewery Bottle Design: Old and New
on May 7th, 2012 in Art and Design, Beer News by Luke | No CommentsI thought I liked Camden Town Brewery’s bottle design before – but these guys have stepped it up a notch. The new design is bold, distinctive and modern with a classic twist – they even manage to make their old design look busy and cluttered. Camden Brewery as a brand are proud, simple and strong – and their new bottle design ticks all of those boxes. These bottles are certainly going to stand out in any beer fridge.

NEW
(Photo courtesy of Beer Lens)According to Beers Lens, the design agency is based in Colorado and worked on Utah’s Uinta Brewery branding – I think I’ve tracked down the agency to be The Tenfold Collective.
Below are a couple of photos I sneaked of their branding at ‘A Night of Many Beers’ during last year’s European Beer Blogger’s Conference (that night certainly lived up to it’s name!)

UPDATE: If I’d done my research properly (ie. visited Camden’s blog) I would have a found a very good post launching their new branding. They’ve also got a preview designs for the new Black Friday and USA Hells, as well as updated keg badges.

on June 6th, 2011 in Art and Design by Luke | No CommentsWe’ve lived in London for nearly 4 years and last month I finally got around to registering with a doctor. As part of the registration, I was asked my average weekly alcohol unit intake. After running out of fingers, I decided to go with a conservative number, but that wasn’t low enough. I was given a stern look up and down, then handed a leaflet about the dangers of drinking.
She obviously hadn’t read this infographic designed by Belancio highlighting the health benefits of beer. I’m not sure what medical qualifications a design agency has but I fully believe everything they say.

on June 2nd, 2011 in Art and Design by Luke | No CommentsBrazilian artist Robson Cezar is King of the Bottletops. Unlike most monarchs, he had to earn this title. This involved spending all of his spare time on his hands and knees in Spitalfield pubs – collecting used bottle caps. Instead of recycling them, he decided to stick them to a bit of wood… and it looks pretty good!

Robson Cezar’s work will be on display in Rough Trade East (appropriately in the Truman Brewery) from Thursday 2nd June

Lovells Lager – “A beer born from a pure thought, spawning free thinking across the nation”
The story goes that the Matt Lovell, a record producer, was out one night listening to good music in great company but “the mass manufactured liquid, disguised as beer in his glass, tasted like rubbish”. A situation we’re all familiar with but Matt decided to do something about it, so he set out to create a “clean, fresh beer without all the rubbish”.
I can’t find many reviews for Lovells Lager online, it doesn’t feature highly on ratebeer.com but it sounds like he’s created what he set out to do… a refreshing, crisp, thirst quenching pale lager – just what you want in Australia.
The packaging reflects their ‘Brewdog’ ethos; innovative, original and stands out from the rest of mundane beer packaging in your local off-license.

The beautiful letterpress poster looks like it’s done by A Two Pipe Problem. We recently bought a couple of beer-related prints from them which we’ll post soon.

Brewdog have announced their second craft beer in a can… 77 lager so I thought I’d post these porcelain cans by Xue Lei. Pretty cool huh?
We’ve had plenty of Punk straight from the can and it tastes just as great but we haven’t done a straight taste test between can and bottle yet, that’ll come soon.
